We asked you to send us photos of your best auto welding projects and boy, did you deliver. While we asked you to vote on the very best project to take home the grand prize, there were so many runner-ups, we had to give them their own spotlight. Here’s just a handful of our favorite entries.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Before we take a look at some of our favorites, we wanted to congratulate Brandon F. on winning the contest with his 2001 TJ Jeep.

The Classics

It’s a combination of euphoria and nostalgia that gets your heart pumping when you see a restored classic car. With so many everyday automobiles feeling so similar, a blast from the past like a classic will really turn some heads. The level of detail and precision required to do this type of work makes classic cars an extreme challenge that’s incredibly rewarding.

Even panel work can be significantly more difficult than you might imagine. The thin sheets of material can easily warp, meaning heat management is critical. If you’ve never tried panel repair (or are having issues), check out our online guide here.

Where We’re Going, We Don’t Need Roads

There’s no limit to the modifications you can do with an off-road vehicle. It brings a tear to our eyes when we see lifts and wheels that make Shaquille O'Neal look like a chipmunk, but why stop there?

Don’t forget about safety either. Roll cages might not be the most exciting thing, but you’ll be glad to have one when the time comes. For more pro-tips on fabricating your own roll cage, check out our in-depth article here.

Scratch Builder

Sometimes you’ve gotta make your own path. Nothing offers more freedom than building a vehicle from scratch. However, before you begin, make sure you’ve got the skills to match.

A League of their Own

Not all vehicles look alike. We wanted to salute those contest entries that were quite unique from the rest of the competition.

Ha Ha

We enjoy a good joke, and some of you had quite the sense of humor when posting your “best auto welding projects.” They might not win any speed competitions, but we see the beginnings of greatness.

That’s only a few of the hundreds of amazing projects we’d like to cover.
